The Catacombs of Paris is the final inactive place for the human remains of about 6 million Parisian skeletons. At the end of the 18th century, the old graveyard had turn into the origin of disease for all the inhabitants of the region. After much criticism, the bones were uninvolved and the cemetery abandon. Old pit were selected to put down the bones and they form a labrynth of subversive passageways beneath the lane of Paris. This secretive world is enormous but only part of it is unlock to the public. This small part takes about 40 mintues to walk during. The bones are agreed very tidily in coating with skullls breaking up the sameness of the design. There are no human being graves just long walkways wrinkled with layers of bones – creepy! Take a burn down if you go, and maybe a support as the lights level is low in the Catacombs and flash taking pictures is not allowed. You can use your torch to emphasize areas you want a photograph of.
Wall of human remains: Make sure you are not lure to pocket one of the skeleton or stick a skull in your knapsack before leaving as there is a sentry on the exit door who checks everybody – yes, some populace really do try to take home a skull to put on the bookshelf.
